A Visit to Old Faithful
We got up rather late on our first day and decided to go and take a look at
Old Faithful, the most famous of Yellowstone's geysers. We followed Madison River, and at Madison turned right along Firehole River. We walked around the Upper Geyser Basin, crossed the Firehole River and saw the
eruption of the big geyser. The basin is composed of several other hotsprings, multi-colored rivulets and smaller geysers. The terrain is open, with a few trees here and there, flowers that seem to like the presence of hot, sulphuric water. Steam and the smell of sulphur are all around...
