The largest geyser at Yellowstone blows approximatively every 90 minutes. At the visitors center, the expected start of the next eruption is announced. The eruption itself takes about six minutes and the water is projected 30 to 50 meter high.
You can go and sit on the stands that are erected in front of the buildings (Lodge, Education Center and Inn), but we preferred to cross Firehole River and see the show from the opposite side, without a crowd around us.
There was only a father and his daughter that came from Oregon (mama was taking a nap at the Inn). We had a nice talk with them and later exchanged addresses when we met again in the Lodge. Unfortunately, we never succeeded in contacting them again.
A couple, apparently from a mennonite creed, also preferred the calmness of our vantage point to experience the impressive force of nature.
What follows here is a collage of a series of photos I made (I hope the movie isn't too heavy for your connection!).
