Nasrid Palace
Palácio dos Nazarides
Paleis van de Nazariden

From the initial palace buildings only the Mexuar remains. Yusuf I built further on the Tower of Comares, the Patio of the Myrts and the Baths. Muhammad V built the Lions' Palace.

The three parts of the Royal Palace had different uses: the Mexuar was the public part or selamlik, where justice was administered and state affairs were dealt with, the Palace of Comares was the official residence, build in typical muslim style, while the Lions' Palace was the private part, with the Harem etc. In the latter, christian influences are to be found in the decoration, possibly due to the friendship between Muhammad V and the Castilian king Pedro I, the Cruel.

The Mexuar has been changed so many times that it is impossible to tell the original architectural outline today.

Do primeiro palácio construído resta atualmente somente o Mexuar.
